Hola! My students are becoming actively involved in discovering information about Costa Rica. My EMS Science Site has a number of links to a variety of terrific sites for learning more about this environmental paradise. See if you can unlock the key to the TRAVEL TRIVIA question of the day. These are small pieces of a puzzle that will create a big picture view of Costa Rica. My students are answering these questions on the Toyota Wiki - Comments Page provided by the Toyota International Teacher Program. You are invited to post your answer on the comment page provided on this site.
We are also preparing "Iowa Books" to share with the schools I will be visiting in Costa Rica. The student created books will offer a glimpse into the lives of seventh grade students in SC, Iowa. We hope to highlight our community and state, while offering a taste of the students' personal lives. They will be sharing; hobbies, sports, music, entertainment, clubs, ceremonies, family events, friends, etc.
This is a great opportunity to not only learn about others, but to take the time to reflect on our own lives and the choices we make.
Que le vaya bien!

Welcome!
Hola! I am glad you are here!
I am honored to have been selected to be one of the 25 participants in the Toyota International Teacher Program to Costa Rica. All of the participants teach courses in grades 6-12. We teach a variety of classes-science, art, technology, social studies, etc. The teachers represent 20 states and I am proud to be representing Iowa.
Our journey begins April 18 in Miami, Florida. We will be touring the everglades and then flying to Costa Rica. While in Costa Rica, we will be meeting with scientists, environmentalists, and Costa Rican educators and students. I will be writing about my experience and posting photos on this site, as well as on my Toyota Wiki.
Upon my return, I will be sharing what I have learned about environmental sustainability and cultural preservation. My hopes are to work with students, teachers, and our community on creative and innovative ways to preserve our environment.
I look forward to having you join me on this fantastic journey!
